OXYTOCIN

oxytocincompressed.jpg

Oxytocin, explores the complexity of chemicals which influence our behaviour and emotions. Notoriously associated with love, the chemical is also released after significant periods of crying. Consequently, the individual experiences endorphins which can induce a sense of calm.

Created digitally, the piece explores the notion of confronting challenging emotions, and the positive outcomes derivative of such actions.

Aiming to capture the moment after the individual stops crying, the piece focuses on that brief moment of stillness, incorporating the concept of conflict between differing emotions.

Produced through the repeated use of the chemical structure of 'Oxytocin' itself, the portrait stresses the dominance of the chemical within the captured moment. Therefore, foreshadowing the upcoming transition between juxtaposing emotions.
